CAMINUS – PREQUEL
Planeta Caminus leží mimo to, co lze považovat za centrum Imperia, a také proto unikla událostem, které postihly mnohé méně šťastné světy v průběhu prvních let občanské války. Jedná se o v mnoha ohledech o poměrně typický úlový svět. Populace je koncentrována v obřích městech, která vystupují nad povrch jen velmi málo, jsou ale zanořena kilometry pod zem. Mimo úly je život pro nechráněného tvora téměř nemožný, pro lidskou bytost pak smrtelný. Planeta má dva satelity, oba využité pro vojenské a průmyslové účely. Doky na oběžné dráze jsou obří a skvěle bráněné. Devíza Caminu je totiž poměrně raritní. Doky vyrábějí vesmírně lodě, a na planetě se mimo jiné vyrábějí obří reaktory do civilních a vojenských strojů. To je taky důvodem, proč je Caminus velmi dobře bráněný svět. Každý útočník by riskoval značné ztráty a materiálu a lidech, a navíc by si mohl být téměř jistý, že klíčové průmyslové komplexy budou v průběhu boje zničeny, a dobytá planeta se stane téměř bezcennou. V současné době se Caminus politicky nijak neprojevuje, a lavíruje mezi oběma stranami. Rada jako nejvyšší vládní orgán, tedy guvernér planety Iastus Kern a jeho deset konšelů, má o svém směřování rozhodnout v řádů měsíců, a je nyní rozhádaná, nejistá a rozdělená. Toto je chvíle, kdy na planetu přilétají jak zástupci Císaře, tak heraldové Hora, aby jednali a přesvědčovali. Planeta je nyní místem velmi křehkého příměří, alespoň oficiálně. Vyjednavači si sebou přivedli své muže, jak lidi, tak legionáře, a to jak oficiálně, tak i utajeně. Místní síly, ať už planetární nebo orbitální, jsou ve svých názorech rozdělené stejně, jako jejich vůdci. V skrytých, tajemných místech úlu působí, byť omezeně, jak kulty světla, tak i temnoty. Templáři Caminu, mocná polooficiální organizace působící ve všech patrech planetární politiky, stále hlasitě prosazují třetí cestu, a to vyhlášení samostatnosti a vytvoření vlastní říše spolu s okolními, méně významnými planetami. Ordo Drakonis , teroristická sektářská organizace, pak hlásá smrt guvernérovi a bohatým vládcům a povstání úlového lidu. Teď se rozhodne o osudu planety a miliard lidí. Na světle se bude jednat, ve stínech krvácet.
Křižníky astartes, diplomatické fregaty, podpůrné lodě. Všechny plavidla již dorazila a zakotvila na oběžné dráze Caminu. Kotviště jsou tak daleko od sebe jak je to možné, ale zároveň tak, aby plavidla byla v dostřelu obrovských obranných stanic planety. Zbraně stanic jsou zcela nepokrytě zacíleny jak na lodě rebelů, tak loyalistů.
Probíhá vylodování diplomatických suit i povolených doprovodů, a samozřejmě i „pomocného personálu“. Oficicialní zástupce stran čeká formální přijetí u guvernéra, a na další den si markýz Computreus dovolil jako gesto dobré vůle pozvat zástupce obou stran k večerní tabuli ve svém sídle.
Ale není čas ztrácet čas, válka o planetu ve skutečnosti již začala…
Black shields deployment
Psycho fell familiar shaking as the two grey Storm Eagles with the insignia of Malcador the Sigillite hit the landing platform. The hum of the engines went silent and after a moment hiss of the air signalized opening of the landing door. Psycho had had last few moments for himself before he started shouting orders on his men and the disembarking began. He was remembering glorious days of Great Crusade, their tally of victories and ten thousand worlds reunited with Terra. He was remembering himself fighting as a renown warrior and strike leader from the Death Guard Legion. He was remembering his original name – Mikel Sykes.
But then the whole Galaxy has gone mad – Horus, first and foremost from eighteen sons of the Emperor turned traitor. He swayed nearly half of the Imperium forces including Psycho´s genefather and majority of his legion. Psycho was not there – at the great betrayal of kinsmen on Istvaan III, at the Dropsite Massacre on Istvaan V. But he heard about this terrible events and after that Death Guard legionnaire Mikel Sykes died with dreams of Unity, and from the ashes of great Betrayal, Blackshield Psycho was born. Like the rest of the band around Erud Vahn, he renounced his vows to Death Guard and Mortarion, gone black and ultimately cast his lot with renegade World Eater Endryd Haar.
Unlike Gale or other dissident voices he was quite contented with Riven Hound´s leadership. He knew that Haar was mad, driven insane by his own ghosts and ultimately willing to sacrifice everyone including himself to achieve his long-term goal – to kill the renegade Warmaster. But unlike others, Psycho didn´t object – all the noble ideals for which he had been fighting long decades were turned to ash and only hatred remained.
Haar knew that and when he dealt secret mutual pact with Malcador the Sigillite it was on Psycho and other few leaders loyal to Haar to uphold the Riven Hound´s half of the deal. After the Xana Incursion Haar´s warband – Fangs of the Emperor – was in desperate need of the supplies. The Sigillite – always plotting, scheming and fighting silent and shadow wars to ensure the safety of Terra – could on the other hand very well use small teams of unidentified Astartes with no obvious allegiance and willing to do everything to achieve vengeance.
With this agreement, it was no surprise that Psycho´s kill-team ended on the important planet like Caminus where both sides of the conflict have their interests but were unwilling to commit full military force and conquer the planet. Officially the negotiations with both sides of the conflict started and indeed – the second Storm Eagle was full of Terran diplomats with the escort of Knight Errant as a visible sign of Sigillite´s will. He will attend the diplomatic meetings and for sure he will help to persuade Caminus´ elite to join loyalists cause. But everyone important knew that fate of Caminus will be decided not during these meetings but in the Shadow War, were kill-teams like Psycho´s men will do dirty work to tip the scales to their cause.
